Lacrosse - Footwork Importance and How to Improve

Recently earning his bachelor of arts, Robert E. Akeson double-majored in environmental studies and economics. A lead health care analyst at Peggotty Investment Club while in college, Robert Akeson also interned at H.C. Wainwright in New York. In his leisure time, he enjoys lacrosse.

When playing defense in lacrosse, your top priority should be to get yourself between the goal and the offensive player. Multiple techniques, including the side shuffle, drop step, and lateral change of direction, can help you achieve this goal. However, these techniques rely on proper footwork.

Multiple exercises can help you improve your footwork. For example, four sets of jump roping for three minutes each, with a one-minute break, can enhance your conditioning training. An additional way to improve footwork is to practice sprint-jog intervals in which you sprint for 50 yards and then switch to jogging for 50 yards. Repeat this exercise for 20 minutes.
